Stretching for Flexibility
At Devon Hiking Spa, your morning will start with a 30-minute stretch class. When you wake in the morning, your muscles, joints, and ligaments are in a relaxed state, so we will gently ease them into action with a slow stretch from head to toe. An invigorating way to start the day!
In addition, after each hike, your hiking guide will lead a short stretch to help increase flexibility and prevent injury.
Hiking for Cardiovascular Health
Our primary fitness activity is hiking. Hiking is a great way to burn calories, work the major muscle groups, strengthen your heart, and improve balance and stability.
According to your fitness level and exercise goals, you can choose a beginner, an intermediate, or an advanced hiking experience. This is your vacation and we want you to enjoy the hikes, while getting a workout, at your own pace.
Fitness Classes for Strength Training
Each afternoon, we offer a fitness class to condition and tone your body. Classes may include: Pilates, Yoga, Core and Stability, and Strength Training. The classes are designed to use minimal equipment, so you can easily continue the exercises at home.
As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass. Resistance exercise is necessary to preserve lean body mass and prevent muscle loss.
